Remember Your first call
Each of us are in different places with different giftings and callings on our lives. But our primary calling is the same. What is our first call?
Mark 3: 13 And He went up on the mountain and summoned those whom He Himself wanted, and they came to Him. And He appointed twelve, so that they would be with Him and that He could send them out to preach, to have authority to cast out the demons and to heal the sick.
Just like the disciples, we're all called to be an extension of Jesus' life and ministry. We're all called to take the power and love of God to reach the world around us. But first of all he appointed them to be with Him.
How many times have we found ourselves doing things for God out of a sense of duty rather than out of a heart of love and appreciation? The difference is remembering that our first call is our relationship with God.
We we're created to fellowship with God. God wants to walk with us. He demonstrated that in the garden with Adam and Eve. The bible says how can 2 walk together lest they be in agreement? If we're going to walk with Him we need to walk like He walks. Eph 5:1 says to be imitators of God and walk in love…..In other words we can't walk with God and have bad relationships with others. As you know Christianity is all about relationship, first with God.
Just look, Jesus first called them to Himself, then out of that relationship they we're able to go out and touch the world.
Jesus said that's the only way it going to work. If you abide in me you'll bear much fruit for apart from Me you can do nothing.
